THE EXCHANGE

If you are looking for an unusual accessory for your home, a unique gift, an added piece to your collection, your money's worth in fine workmanship, or the mellowness and charm of older pieces the Exchange is the place for you!

The Exchange is a consignment shop for fine home furniture and antiques. We will sell any of your attractive or servicable furniture, antiques, decorative accessories, fine jewelry, china, silver, crystal, glassware, pictures, collectibles, and other items that you no longer use. Someone else will love them and you will make some money.

WHY USE THE EXCHANGE?

Alternatives are garage sales, newspaper ads, or auctions. Garage sales have only limited attendance, bring small prices, and are a lot of work. Newspaper ads appeal only to those people who happen to read them, plus you must put up with the telephone calls and strangers in your home. Auctions leave you at the mercy of a particular audience on a particular day, and your belongings may bring only a small fraction of their actual worth. It makes good sense to use our easy and lucrative method of disposing of your unwanted items.

WILL WE TAKE ANYTHING?

Well, almost anything... but no broken items, no electrical appliances, and no clothing. We reserve the right to refuse any article that does not meet with our quality control. We do ask that all items be cleaned and polished, or there will be a charge for this service.

WHO SETS THE PRICE?

Pricing is important... too high and the article won't sell; too low and it's not fair to the consignor, so we put our heads together! We use any information that the consignor has, such as original cost or the age of the items, plus our experience to help us decide what to ask.

DO YOU EVER BUY FURNISHINGS?

Yes, but at a small fraction of it's value, therefore you would be better off putting them on consignment in the shop.

WHAT WILL IT COST TO SELL AT THE EXCHANGE?

There is no registration fee involved. our fees are on a sliding scale. For everything that sells above $100 the consignor will receive two-thirds of the selling price. For things that sell from $15 to $99.99 the consignor will receive 60% of the selling price. For things that sell under $15 the consignor will receive 50% of the selling price. If the article does not sell in the first month, the sales price will be reduced 15% and 15% every thrity days thereafter. After 60 days, the consignor may remove the item if it has not sold. If the items are left for more than 150 days without making arrangements for pickup, it becomes the property of the Exchange and we will dispose of the item, with no further notice or payment to the consignor. Amounts are then tallied and mailed on the tenth of each month.

WHAT ABOUT TRANSPORTATION FOR LARGE ITEMS?

It is the consignor's responsibility to bring articles to us to sell. We can give you names of movers or we can make arrangements for transportation, but the consignor must pay for this service.
